Kids Yoga Network Advisor Helen Garabedian is a best-selling author and an innovator in specialty yoga with babies, toddlers, and tykes. We are very excited to have her involved at Kids Yoga Network. Helen thinks what we are doing at Kids Yoga Network is ‘Great, Great, Great'.
Helen created Itsy Bitsy Yoga in 1999 because, “Since I was a child, I have worked with and cared for babies in different capacities. As a yoga teacher and infant developmental movement educator, and as a mother, I consistently use my intuition and creativity to care for and enhance the lives of little ones. I wanted to develop and share a way holistic-minded parents can connect with and raise their babies with awareness. Yoga gave me the platform for my purpose: 'To help many people help many other people find peace and realize their limitless potential in this lifetime.'
Helen has made a lifelong commitment to yoga and young children. As a Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher, Certified Infant Developmental Movement Educator, USUI Reiki Master, IAIM Certified Infant Massage Instructor, Certified Pregnancy Yoga Teacher and Level One Brain Gym graduate, she is a master in her field of Baby Yoga and Toddler Yoga. Helen has been a student of Hatha Yoga and many other spiritual and holistic arts since she was a child herself and now as a mother, enjoys sharing yoga with her toddler Andrew.
Helen is regularly interviewed by the Associated Press and other media. Recently she was referred to as the “Baby Yoga Expert” by Newsweek Magazine. Helen is the author of “Itsy Bitsy Yoga: Poses to Help Your Baby Sleep Longer, Digest Better and Gorw Stronger”. Helen’s long-awaited second book, “Itsy Bitsy Yoga for Toddlers and Preschoolers” was released in early 2008. Watch out on Kids Yoga Network for our feature on this book.
Helen has studied under Dr. Harvey Karp, author of The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block, and helped with the initial development of the Happiest Baby Educator program. Helen’s expertise has also been contracted by The First Years, Inc., a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of infant and toddler products.
